I forgot to post about my trip to Colorado, so here ya go. DEPARTURE We finally left Denton around 7:45pm. We will hopefully arrive in Colorado around 9am Mountain time. I am so pumped about this trip. I haven't had much time to really just not worry about work or school for a while now. The best part about it is that I get to spend it with 2 of the coolest dudes I know. I should be taking my turn at sleeping now, so that when it's my turn to drive I'm not too sleepy. I think I'm just too excited to get to the mountains. Expectations: That's all for now. 1st Day Wednesday, March 18, 2009 9:13 AM We finally arrived in Colorado around 10:15am CST. 1st item on the agenda: nap. We slept for a couple of hours, before we decided that we needed to get up and make the most of the vacation. We all got ready and headed into town, wearing our green of course because it was St. Patrick's Day. We stopped in at Steamworks Brewing Co. to taste some of their delicious brews. I especially liked the Slam Dunk Dunkelweisen, and the stout was pretty incredible too. Afterwards, we wandered around town looking through all of the different shops. Around 6:15 we went to Durango Coffee Co., because we were a little tired and a girl named Annie Brooks was performing an acoustic set. She has an incredible talent at songwriting, guitar playing and singing. As we were leaving the coffee shop Kyle, Annie's husband, chased us down to thank us for coming to check her out. Then he asked if we wanted to come over to their house for pizza tonight. I'm pretty sure that we all decided that that would be happening. We headed down to Carver Brewing Company, because we had heard that there would be live Celtic musicians performing. We stood in this little restaurant/bar for about 30 minutes talking with people and listening to some really great music. I think we were all a little tired, so we decided to head back to the house. I was pretty much useless, but we did light a fire in the fire pit on the balcony and sat for about an hour. I decided to go off to bed, because I felt like I was getting cranky. All in all, it was a great start to a hopefully incredible week. I think we are headed to Silverton today, so that Troy and Daniel can ski. I'll probably just hang out in town. I'll more than likely bring some books and my laptop, just in case there is internet service. Stay tuned….. Long Day Thursday, March 19, 2009 12:17 AM 1st thing we did today was head down to Aztec, New Mexico. Daniel had to wire a check to his parent's bank account. On the way back, we got a call from Troy saying that he and his family were going to Mesa Verde National Park. I honestly didn't want to go, and neither did Daniel. However, we didn't really have anything else to do, so we decided to go. It was a pretty awesome view from the top of the mountains that we were on top of. Daniel and I decided to head back into town, and met up with our new friends, Jake and Annie Brooks. They were meeting with their Home Church group and we were invited to come over for homemade pizza. They were a great group of people. We then left to meet up with Troy, who was hanging out at a local coffee shop. We went from there over to the Irish Embassy Pub to have a few beers. Afterwards, we came back to the house and lit a fire. We sat out there for about 3 hours, mesmerized by the flames. Friday Saturday, March 21, 2009 1:23 PM Friday was perhaps the most relaxing day of the entire trip. We all woke up slow and sat outside for a couple of hours reading. The fire was soothing. Then we grabbed the pellet gun and started shooting at cans and plastic bottles. We had an idea that one of us should go and hide some targets(cans) out in the trees, snow and brush while one of us sat inside waiting patiently. The key was for the one that was waiting to come out and he had to find the targets within the time allotted. It was a very fun game. Around 4:30 we decided to go into town for some grub. We found a little tucked away pizza joint, that had hands down one of the best pizza slices I've ever had. We had a pitcher of Ska Brewery's Pinstripe Ale to complement the experience. After that, we headed over to Durango Joe's for some good coffee. I really did enjoy their Americano. The espresso was nice and nutty. Troy and Daniel each had a Milky Way Espresso beverage. I think it was made with chocolate milk, which according to Troy was why the drink was so delicious. Around 8:30 we headed over to Trimble Springs. It's a natural hot spring spa. We sat in the pools for about 40 minutes, before deciding to go sit in the sauna. I think we might go back on Saturday. I felt so rejuvenated after the spa experience. Well, that's all for Friday. I'll try to update later this evening, or in the car tomorrow on the way home. See ya then.
