Loving One Another

Scribbled by Darrell Barnes

These past few weeks have been a time of confession, reconnection and a time to learn how to love. I long for a companion that I can love, daily, more than myself. Until then, I will focus on loving everyone more than myself. This sounds great on paper(or in this case on blogger), but can prove to be more difficult when attempting to put into practice.

I spent the weekend with some of my favorite people, including Timmy, Heath, my parents, Cassin & Brant, and of course Max (Sir Maximus the Young). I can love these people with the greatest of ease, because they pour into my life so much. Max is so easy to love when he stretches his arms out for me just to be held for a few seconds.

The people that make it difficult to love are people that may do these things:

  1. Cut me off on the highway
  2. Ignore me when I try to talk to them
  3. Look at me the wrong way
However, what is our call? Should we just love those that are easy to love? I can think of no greater example to remember when these people present themselves to me in these ways than Jesus Christ. I long to be like Him, but do not try to follow in his footsteps. This is why it is so easy for Christ to be mocked, because His followers claim to be like Christ and don't do things that he teaches. In the words of Ghandi:
"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians, they look so unlike your Christ."

Oh Lord, please let me reflect who You are.

Off to school now, Go Stars!!! 5th place is looking pretty sweet!
