Wow, this semester is almost over. I’ve sat through 2 classes so far and both of my professors have given me grade distributions and total grade sheets. In my first class, I need a 78 on the final in order to get an A in the class. And in my 2nd class, I only need a 57 to make a B. I could get an A, but only if I make a 97 on the final. I really hope that the rest of the classes are doing just as well.
We’re having a self-entitlement discussion in my Op. Mgmt class. CEO pay relative to average worker($40,000/avg worker) is as follows:
U.S. | 400:1 ($16,000,000)
Britain | 22:1 ($880,000)
Canada | 20:1 ($800,000)
Japan | 11:1 ($440,000) | |
*Of course, Japan’s average worker makes a significant amount more than the average worker here.
“Changing the way we work here in the U.S. would do wonders for our economy.”(Dr. White) We come into the classroom, and are ok with 90%, or even just getting by with 70%. How does that play our in the workplace? If we are ok with 90% in the workplace, then aren’t we ok with 10% wrong?
Management nowadays is not just knowing how to be nice to people. Changing quality systems is how to be a good manager. Focus on quality, not the 400:1 ratio.
